Open-Air cinema in Palma
During the summer months (August and September), Palma hosts open-air film screenings. These events usually take place in Parc del Mar, behind the magnificent cathedral La Seu.
Over the years, venues have varied, including the permanent outdoor stage at Ses Voltes and the grassy hills surrounding the small lake. Follow the big screen to find your spot. Films typically start after 9 PM to avoid interference from the evening sun.Â
Watching a film under the stars in Palma is a truly atmospheric experience. Be sure to check if the film is in English or has English subtitles.
Aficine – association of Mallorca’s cinemas
Aficine manages the film programs for four cinemas in Mallorca: Oximax in Palma, Rivoli in Palma, Augusta in Palma, and one cinema in Manacor.
On their website, select “PelÃculas” and click on “Original Version/VOSE” to see films currently showing in their original language, typically English, if you are not fluent in Spanish.
Showtimes are displayed in green. Ticket prices are around 8 euros, slightly cheaper than in other cities.
Cineciutat in Palma
Located in Palma’s s’Escorxador area, Cineciutat in Palma offers a charming setting just outside the old town. This cultural hub, housed in early 20th-century modernist buildings, includes bars, restaurants, a supermarket, and a cinema.
