Mallorca is built for outdoor life — long café chats, sunsets, and shared meals. But where does smoking fit in today?
Smoking Rules in Spain
✅ Smoking is banned indoors in restaurants, cafés, and bars.
✅ There is no national ban on smoking on terraces — but individual venues can choose to prohibit it. Some restrictions may apply near playgrounds, schools, hospitals, or where children are present — but enforcement is often inconsistent.
Many terraces still allow smoking. Others have gone smoke-free by choice.
Still, enforcement varies. Some terraces allow it. Others have gone completely smoke-free.
What Do Visitors Want?
In January 2025, we asked 1,100 tourists:
“Would you still visit a restaurant that bans smoking completely, even outdoors?”
✔️ 94% said yes.
A clear sign that smoke-free dining matters to most visitors.
