Art and culture in Mallorca
Mallorca is teeming with art galleries, and Palma alone boasts more than any other Spanish city. However, CCA Andratx stands in a league of its own, dedicated not only to the exhibition but also the creation of contemporary art. Its impressive physical size and unique location underscore its significance in the art world.
In a quiet, serene corner of Andratx, nestled between the mountains, you will find the architectural marvel that houses CCA Andratx. Founded by Jacob and Patricia Asbæk in 2001, the couple has devoted their lives to creating a perfect space for visitors, collectors, and artists interested in contemporary art.

CCA Andratx in Mallorca: Exhibition and creation
The 4,000 m² exhibition hall beautifully respects traditional Mallorcan architecture while incorporating timeless minimalism. The various exhibition rooms are expansive with high ceilings, and the concrete floors add a raw, industrial touch.
Both permanent and rotating exhibitions are featured, challenging visitors with an array of surprises from room to room, including video installations, visual art, sculptures, photography, paintings, and drawings. The center organizes 3-4 international exhibitions annually, showcasing “challenging artistic projects and experiments in a wide range of media,” according to their website.
For over fifteen years, CCA Andratx has hosted resident artists who work on-site. The buildings also function as a production site and creative platform, with over 500 artists from 20 countries having benefited from its facilities. Occasionally, “Open Studios” events allow guests to peek into the artists’ workshops, ask questions, and gain insight into the creative process.
More than just Art
After exploring the vast, raw concrete spaces, relax in the café or the large courtyard, which features columns, palm trees, and a tranquil water element. The courtyard is an ideal spot to reflect on your experiences.
CCA Andratx also has a shop selling a wide range of art books, publications, original international design products, jewelry, and graphic art. The venue is also suitable for events such as weddings, birthdays, and receptions.
The center prides itself on being self-sufficient in citrus fruits, almonds, figs, and olives. It also has its own spring, providing enough water to meet its needs. As you sit in the courtyard and absorb the day’s impressions, it’s easy to feel as if you’ve found a slice of paradise.
