The best beach in Mallorca?
Es Trenc boasts white sand and crystal-clear water, reminiscent of a “bounty beach.” The beach lies within a dune system separating it from Salobrar de Campos, a wetland behind the beach. This wetland is home to migratory birds and delicate vegetation, and the area is used for salt extraction: Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc.
At Es Trenc, you can experience a beach as it was before the arrival of tourism, with no hotels or bars, and only a single, slightly secluded restaurant. Its status as a natural beach is well-deserved.
Tranquility amidst nature
This unspoiled, kilometer-long beach is not commercialized compared to other beaches in Mallorca and is far from mass tourism. Arriving early in the day gives you a good chance to enjoy a few peaceful hours. However, during high season, Es Trenc can become quite popular, and you may need to walk a bit to find a quiet spot.
The marine life of Es Trenc in Mallorca
The seabed is home to Posidonia Oceanica, a type of sea grass essential for the sea’s microorganisms and fish. It also protects the coast from erosion by forming large underwater meadows. Therefore, it’s not uncommon to find seaweed on the beach. In the past, efforts were made to remove it to please tourists, but its importance for the ecosystem has since been recognized, and it is now left longer on the beach.

The myth of Es Trenc
The name “Trenc” means “broken” in Mallorcan, referring to the area where the sandy region is broken, creating two distinct areas. According to tradition, a tidal wave in the mid-18th century reached Mallorca’s shores, creating a well-defined section in the dunes, separating the open sea from the salt marshes and helping to form this unique beach.
Services and Accessibility
Es Trenc has limited services, with only one restaurant where table reservations are necessary. The restaurant at Es Trenc serves a variety of Mediterranean dishes, including fresh seafood, paella, grilled meats, and refreshing salads, all made with local ingredients.
The beach is used for windsurfing and kitesurfing, and offers lifeguard services and toilets. Parasols and sunbeds are available for hire, but bringing your own sun protection is advisable as there are no shady spots.
Getting to Es Trenc
