Exploring Formentor: Bus 334 from Alcudia
The bus from Alcudia to Formentor (TIB’s line 334) and cycling are the best options in the summer if you want to visit the Formentor lighthouse at the far end of the peninsula. Daytime parking is closed to cars, motorcycles, and other motorized vehicles from June 15 to September 15 each year. This decision was first made in spring 2019 after a successful pilot project in July and August 2018.
Initially, the ban was from 10:00 to 19:00, but in 2022 it was extended to 10:00 to 22:30.
The car ban applies from Puerto Pollensa onwards, with exceptions for Cala Pi de la Posada, also known as Formentor Beach. This article provides the necessary information to avoid fines and enjoy the unique experiences Formentor has to offer.

Why the restrictions?
The restrictions were introduced due to the area’s overload of thousands of cars daily, which also caused issues for cyclists. These rules have strong support from local residents.
Beautiful Formentor in Mallorca
The Formentor peninsula is a popular destination for many of the over 10 million tourists who visit Mallorca annually. It’s the northernmost area of the Tramuntana mountains and the beautiful peninsula you see when approaching the island by plane. The Formentor peninsula is about 20 kilometers long from the entrance at Puerto Pollensa to the lighthouse at the tip. It’s a beloved cycle route with numerous hiking trails and natural beaches.
